Richmond ABCs - Letter K

Do you ever end up with some free time, but aren’t quite sure what to do with it? I want to make sure you have plenty of ideas to explore RVA! Because Richmond has so many things to do and activities to offer.

To help you I’ve compiled a list starting with each letter of the alphabet to kick-start ideas of things to do around town. This week I focus on the letter K, here we go!

Kanawha Plaza

The Kanawha Plaza is located at the corner of Canal Street and 9th Street. It’s a great open space in the heart of downtown Richmond. Many events are held throughout the year at this outdoor meeting space.

Kayaking

Richmond is the only city that boasts class III and IV rapids in an urban setting, which makes it great for kayaking. You can rent kayaks through Riverside Outfitters, RVA Paddle Sports, or buy your own. There are a number of great spots to get out on the James River.

Knitting B

If outdoorsy things aren’t your thing, you can check out Knitting B for all your yarn craft needs. They offer patterns and yarn for all skill levels. Plus, they offer classes if you are itching to learn how to knit.

K1 Speed

If you have a need for speed, check out the indoor go-karts at K1 Speed. The speeds can approach 45 mph! These electric karts are great for all skill levels and since it is indoors, the weather won’t be an issue. Plus, they offer groups and party packages.

Richmond Kickers

Catch a Richmond Kickers match at City Stadium. The soccer season generally runs from March - October, so there are plenty of opportunities to see the team.

Kabana Rooftop

Located on the 20th floor of Hilton’s Hampton Inn and Suites and Homewood Suites in Downtown Richmond, Kabana is the highest rooftop restaurant around. Enjoy views of the city, the James River, and Virginia State Capitol as you dine. Their menu offers a contemporary New American selection.

Kilwins

Do you have a sweet tooth? Check out Kilwins in Carytown for chocolates, ice cream, handmade sweets, and more. Through their kitchen front window, you can watch them hand-paddle fudge, dip apples into caramel, and craft other delicious treats.

Keep exploring RVA

I hope this list sparked some new ideas for you. Get out there and keep exploring this great city.
