RVA Community Spotlight - Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond

Most of the time a real estate blog talks about market conditions, how to sell your home, and tips for updating a house. I enjoy writing about these things and helping others figure out real estate, but today I wanted to brag about Richmond and how much I love living here.

Richmond continues to surprise me with everything it has to offer. From its outstanding parks to impressive food scene to extensive history, it really is a source of endless activities. And I can't imagine ever leaving. Most weekends are full of fun things to do, check it out here!

Community Spotlight - DSAGR

One of our new favorite events is the Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K and Family Festival. The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond (DSAGR) will hold its annual event at Dorey Park on October 15th from 9am - 1pm.

The 5K is a chance to celebrate Down syndrome and raise money for DSAGR’s community programs and outreach. Inflatables, food, and music make this a fun outing for the whole family.

DSAGR is just one of the many great organizations in Richmond giving back to its community. When we received Harper’s Down syndrome diagnosis, it was a shock. But we were quickly connected to DSAGR. And through this organization, we learned a lot about Down syndrome and met other families, so we knew we were not alone. It’s a gift to have this resource and community.

This will be our fifth year participating in their annual 5K and family festival! And there is still time to join our daughter’s team - Hip Hip Harper Rae

Thankful for the RVA Community

My wife and I were genuinely touched by the support and love we feel each year during the festival. Many thanks to family, friends, and the community that support our daughter and others with Down Syndrome. We are pumped for this year and love this fall tradition.

Richmond has seen massive growth over the years, but through it all, the city has kept a strong community presence and emphasized meaningful relationships for its members. Richmond has many festivals and events to give back and support each other. Get out there this fall and explore all Richmond has to offer!
