Richmond ABCs - Letter E
Do you ever end up with some free time, but aren’t quite sure what to do with it? I want to make sure you have plenty of ideas to explore RVA! Because Richmond has so many things to do and activities to offer.
To help you I’ve compiled a list starting with each letter of the alphabet to kick-start ideas of things to do around town. This week I focus on the letter E, here we go!
Edgar Allan Poe Museum
A literary and historical museum, The Poe Museum or the Edgar Allan Poe Museum is located in Shockoe Bottom. Poe never lived in the building, but it serves to commemorate his time living in Richmond and celebrates the life and legacy of this American writer.
The Poe Museum opened to the public in 1922, featuring the Old Stone House, which is the oldest residential building that is still standing in Richmond, and the Enchanted Garden.
The museum is open Tuesdays-Sundays and also can be rented out for special events.
Escape Rooms
An escape room is an interactive and themed game, where a group of people are in a room trying to figure out puzzles and clues to solve a problem.
I might be biased because my family owns an escape room in Roanoke, but I think escape rooms are a lot of fun. We’ve played a few rooms around Richmond. Most recently, we played a room at Breakout Games located off of Midlothian Turnpike.
But there are a number of escape rooms in RVA. And they all offer different rooms to play, so there are so many options.
Eggs Up Grill (Bon Air)
My wife and I have been on a brunch kick lately. We drop the kids off at preschool and enjoy a quick bite to eat. Eggs Up Grill has been a new favorite spot. It’s got a diner feel and the food is delicious. It’s also family-friendly, so we have enjoyed taking our kids there too.
Electric Scooters
If you are walking around downtown Richmond and get tired, be on the lookout for an electric scooter. These electric scooters are there for you! Just download the app, hop on, and take a quick ride to your destination. Once you get there just leave it parked for the next person to find.
Evening of exploring trails
Do you want to explore some of the James River Park System by bike? But you’re not sure where to start or who to go with? Meet up for an evening of exploring trails at the Quirk Hotel. A group of bike riders meets weekly and you are invited to join them. More details here.
Keep exploring RVA
I hope this list sparked some new ideas for you. Get out there and keep exploring this great city.
